Well.
“About Me” sections are pretty lame actually. In the context of this website and its intended purpose (that being to interest you in hiring me to design something for you) particulars “about me” are really not that important. Having said that, if you check out my list of love you will get a pretty accurate picture of who I am. Should this influence your decision? Should the “about me” section actually help a designer get a contract? Doubtful. However, if you wanted to design a brochure let’s say, that was purple (vikings) included Gwenyth Paltrow as the talent (model), featured a new golf course (that was sponsored by Pepsi), suggested we hire Wes Anderson to direct the commercial and we discussed the project over a cold pepsi and a kit kat…this section may influence your decision. The reality is I enjoy my career and try to enjoy the other things as long as they can include my wife and kids. At the end of the day, I try to be a good dad and husband. It’s cool. It’s simple. I don’t think it’s all that clever (but I still stand by the concept in my design). Common sense actually.
“Chez” means “at the house of” in French. My business started in my home. “Coupe” in French means “cut off” as in cut the grass. This was not a factor in the name of my company because I really despise mowing the lawn – just some non-related personal trivia.
What makes this all work is the fact I live in a Mennonite community and “Chez” pronounced “shay” is always pronounced “shez”. I think that’s funny. And at the local Credit Union, it has happened on several occasions where the teller has said “I didn’t know you had a son Chez!” Too much. I think that’s funny. You probably don’t and are beginning to wonder why you started to read this…but you did. Also funny. Sorry.
